Smartwatch Implications on Content Creation

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Is Here And Better Than Expected

As hardware manufacturers race to launch products in the smartwatch market there has been little talk of new media standards. Samsung's Galaxy watch shipped with a camera which will let us all have Dick Tracy style conversations with friends and family. But as people begin capturing and posting video to YouTube and other social media sites, video platforms will have to plan for handling a non-widescreen format.

Additionally, content creators can command this new media space by understanding how best to display entertainment and informational videos on a smaller screen.

Other implications/applications of smartwatch video capabilities:
- Security concerns as BYOD expands beyond mobile devices
- Health / Quantifiable-apps that can send encouraging messages or customized workout videos
- Further proliferation of crowd-sourced journalism
- Location based video ads delivered to a screen that's "always open"

Any other smartwatch video capabilities leap out at you?
